What We Know So Far

This is not the first time Liev Schreiber has experienced a severe headache. During his appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" the "Ray Donovan" star once confessed to a similar occurrence in 2024 which the 58-year-old actor called "really bad headache."

Describing the moment, he said, "I go on, and I do about the first six or seven lines of the play, sort of automatically. I realize I'm not connected, so I decide, let me try and get connected again. And the minute I do that, it all vanishes.

"The play is gone from my head. I'm looking out into a dark audience. I know I'm in a play, but I don't know what play I'm in. I look down at my clothes, and I realize I'm a priest, which is helpful, but not giving me any lines." He ultimately found out "from a neurologist I had something called transient global amnesia."

What Is Transient Global Amnesia?

Transient global amnesia is an episode of sudden confusion in a person who is otherwise alert. Mayo Clinic states, "During an episode of transient global amnesia, a person is unable to create new memory, so the memory of recent events disappears. You can't remember where you are or how you got there.

"You may not remember anything about what's happening right now. You may keep repeating the same questions because you don't remember the answers you've just been given." Transient global amnesia often occurs in older adults. People with this condition cannot remember who they are.
