Rasthriya Poshan Maah 2024: Which Health Aspects Is The Initiative Emphasising On Across The Country?

The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development have launched the initiative 'Rashtriya Poshan Maah' in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. Work pertaining to the aims of the campaign has already begun in several parts of India. According to the latest updates from the campaign, 1.37 crore activities in 752 districts of 35 states and Union territories have been reported by the sixth day. Among the leading contributors are the states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. The campaign was launched on the 31st of August in Gujarat's Gandhinagar. This is the seventh edition of Poshan Maah.

Their main aim is to focus on:

  1. The prevention of anaemia.
  2. Growth monitoring,
  3. Complementary feeding,
  4. The integration of education with nutrition through the scheme, and
  5. Environmental sustainability.

Under the aim of promoting a sustainable environment, the scheme aims at planting over 13.95 lakh Anganwadi centres across the country. This initiative has been named "Ek ped Maa Ke Naam."

'Rasthriya Poshan Maah:' Which Health Aspects Are They Targeting?

Here's what they have successfully done in the first 6 days since the launch of the 'Rasthriya Poshan Maah' campaign:

  1. They have conducted over 39 lakh activities focused on anemia.
  2. 27 lakh activities on growt6h monitoring.
  3. 20 lakh activitie3s on complementary feeding.
  4. 18.5 lakh activities on the "Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi" initiative.
  5. Eight lakh activities to support environmental sustainability.
  6. The 'Poshan tracker app' has been initiated to monitor over 10 lakh activities under "Technology for Better Governance." The aim of the tracker is to improve the implementation and tracking of nutrition programs.
