After giving blockbuster hits like Barfi and Rockstar and winning awards for it, Ranbir Kapoor will next be seen in his upcoming film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani romancing ex-flame Deepika Padukone. He is also gearing up for a couple of other films like Besharam and Bombay Velvet. While he's perfected the romantic hero act, he will now be seen essaying the role of a street fighter in Bombay Velvet and he's begun training for it too. In order to look like a street fighter from the '60s, Ranbir is leaving no stone unturned to acquire the body similar to one complete with six-pack abs et al. For this, the makers have roped in Kenyan Mixed Martial Arts expert Ash to train him.
'I haven't worked on my physique for a film so far, but Bombay Velvet demands it. And I have always maintained that I would make the effort for the right film,' he told a leading newspaper. But recently while undergoing a gruelling training session to look like a street fighter, Ranbir injured his back and is now on a week-long rest period. He's been to a physiotherapist as well to ease his injury and recover quickly before he can get back to training again. 'I'm on a week-long break. But I have some time as the filming only starts in about two months. I hope my back heals soon so I can resume training quickly,' he said in a recent interview.
But apart from getting a ripped body, Ranbir will also need to work hard to get into character as he will be portraying a complicated role with shades of grey in it. 'It's going to be a very different character (from what I have played so far). My role has shades of grey. I play an extremely ambitious guy, who is also a street fighter,' Ranbir confessed. It is interesting to note that he is also the co-producer of this film which also stars Anushka Sharma as a jazz singer.
