Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is known to have improved traveller's experiences by quickly addressing their grievances. He's always known to be a tweet away as he quickly responds any complaint addressed to him on Twitter. His management skills have been one of the biggest reasons why the- Railway Budget 2016 was highly anticipated. The Minister has announced some really useful schemes that take care of most of the problems we face while travelling by Indian railways. Here's the highlight of the Railway budget
1. Travelling with ease--The number of seats reserved for senior citizens and women travellers has been increased. Also, the lower berth quota for senior citizens will be increased by 50%. For differently abled people, battery operated cars and paid porters will be available at stations.
2. The persistent problem of unclean toilets-- The Minister has promised to install 17000 bio-toilets and 275 additional toilets on stations before the end of this financial year. You will also be able to request cleaning of toilets via SMS.
3. Better food--You will be able to choose the type and locally available food onboard. For mothers travelling with babies, baby food, hot milk and water will be available at all stations.
4.Security-- Security is a major concern for women travelling alone. The All India women Helpline--182, will also aim at providing immediate assistance to travellers. Apart from the helpline, the minister also aims to bring all major stations under CCTV surveillance. They also paln to provide WiFi services at 100 staions this year, and 400 more stations will be covered over the next two years.
