New Delhi 14th Dec: President Pranab Mukherjee underwent an angioplasty on Saturday at the Army's Research and Referral hospital, where doctors installed a coronary stent in his artery to remove a blockage.
President Pranab Mukherjee, 79, was rushed to the hospital after complaining of stomach discomfort and related problems. On reaching the hospital, doctors put him under observation for 24 hours and performed various tests during which they detected a blockage in one of the arteries leading to the heart.
The doctors tending to him performed an angioplasty immediately where they installed a stent to widen the artery and allow an adequate supply of blood to the heart.
