Piramal Healthcare Ltd has agreed in Delhi High Court to stop using the word 'sure' as a brand name for its ovulation kit product or for any other drug manufactured by it.

The pharma company gave the undertaking, on affidavit, to a bench of Justice Indermeet Kaur who was hearing a trademark infringment case filed against Piramal by Assure Life Science Pvt Ltd. Piramal gave the affidavit pursuant to its submission before the court on May 19 that the word 'sure' shall not be used as a trade name in the manufacturing and sale of any of its products.

It had also told the court that its 'infringing material under the trade name 'I-Sure' which was in the market will be phased out within an outer limit of three months by withdrawing the products from the retailers to whom the product had been sold'. On May 25, Piramal filed the affidavit in relation to its submission of May 19 and thereafter, the court disposed of Assure Life Science' plea.
