Pinkathon - All women marathon for breast cancer awareness
India s first ever all women marathon is raring to go on the 16th of this month. Named the Pinkathon , this 10km run will be undertaken with the aim of spreading awareness about breast cancer.
This one of a kind run is the initiative of avid runner and actor Milind Soman, who has brought this international concept to India through his even management agency Maximus Events. Actress Soha Ali Khan also lent her support to the cause by donating Rs. 1,00,000 to Deveika Bhojwani from the Women's Cancer Initiative. According to Soha, breast cancer is the least spoken about ailment in India, and initiatives such as this one will help create much needed awareness.
With the tagline Run to Lead , the Pinkathon aims at not only creating awareness but also to educate people to understand the causes of the disease and prevention. The run will be in three categories of 10km, 5km and 3km. Previous awareness campaigns such as the one held by the Cancer Patients Aid Association have garnered support from actor Aamir Khan and his nephew Imran Khan .
If you want to lend your support to the cause you can collect your bib from Maximus Events, 4th floor, Opulence, 6th road, Santacruz East, near Khar subway, Mumbai, between 11am and 7pm any day till the 15th Dec 2012.
