With the rampant spread of swine flu all across the nation, steps to curb it and treat it efficiently are needed on an urgent basis. Amending existing laws to suit the need of patients and ensure treatment reaches one and all affected, the Delhi Government has taken steps to provide healthcare to all affected. The health department has issued guidelines authorising every private hospital with 50 beds or more and ventilators to treat patients belonging to 'Category C' and those suffering from seasonal influenza including H1N1. Patients from this category display symptoms such as breathlessness and chest pain in addition to regular flu symptoms of fever, cold and stomach-ache. These new guidelines have enabled 122 private hospitals and 19 government hospitals to treat patients suffering from the virus.
