'It takes a village to raise a child', so the saying goes. From the moment you discover that you are pregnant, thousand and one questions will swarm your head. Should I do this, eat this, wear this, sleep so much, eat so much, work so much, not work so much, what all do I need, what all will I not need, is this normal, do all pregnant women face this, am I overthinking, am I taking things too lightly -- so on and so forth. It is natural for you to have all these questions, and it is not feasible to consult a doctor for every single thing. Most women will turn to their mothers, sisters or friends. A lot of women, and men too, also consult one of the Facebook groups. There are a number of Facebook p groups dedicated to get your questions answered, help you share, rant and get your worries sorted. From pregnancy, raising a child to everything in between, these Facebook groups are like family to a lot of people. Whether you are pregnant or a parent, you will benefit immensely by joining some of the best Facebook parenting groups. Help, literally, will always be a few clicks away.
First Moms club: This is probably the pioneer of parenting groups. With over 20k people on their Facebook page, First Moms Club is a helpful community of mothers who will patiently answer all your questions and silent your worries. The content on the page is very interesting too, from jokes, contests to dialogue exchange to address issues like autism awareness to a number of hashtags ranging from #mommyrebooted to #writermommy, you will be hooked to the page. FMC also has an app and a website.
Ask the village: Over 20k women and men love this group, who is the quintessential Facebook group for anything parenting. The group has certain rules to be followed by all its members, like not asking or giving medical advice, not sharing instigative news or rumours. If you can respect that, you are good. Parents are free to ask any query on this group and people also share a lot of helpful material and interesting reads to make parenting easier.
Gentle parenting: This group is dedicated to the gentle approach to parenting, to raise children with respect, empathy, and understanding, as the group's description says. This peer-to-peer support group is dedicated to promoting gentle parenting and the members and admins are patient enough to answer queries and share their two-bits when you present them with a problem you are facing. It is a nice group for healthy interaction, to share and learn with other like-minded parents.
Early childhood development and parenting India: Home is the first school of a child, parents, the first teachers. This group is for everything educational for the child. From what kind of developmental toys you need to get to all your schooling and homeschooling queries, this is the group to be in. As with most groups, this one has its own set of rules, which are the basic ones to make sure the group is run respectfully.
