The death toll in the North Bengal floods has climbed to 28, while Nepal has recorded 60 deaths so far. According to reports, around 500 tourists who were stranded in Darjeeling were rescued by the West Bengal Police and taken to Siliguri. Rescue Operation Underway In North Bengal And Nepal
West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, wrote in her latest X post, "In Jalpaiguri, senior officials from District Headquarters, along with the SDOs and BDOs, are working tirelessly on the ground to provide immediate relief to those affected. Life jackets have already been distributed to ensure safety. Today, construction work on damaged bridges will also begin so that communication lines can be restored without delay.
"Every arm of the administration has been mobilised with a singular purpose: to stand beside the people in their hour of need. While nature's fury has caused immense hardship, our collective resolve is to ensure that no family feels abandoned and no individual remains unsupported. I am personally monitoring the situation and will continue to ensure that every necessary measure is taken with compassion, speed, and accountability."

Ensure to use chlorine to disinfect your water or boil it at a high temperature to kill the germs for drinking and cooking purposes.
Always wash your hands with soap when you come into contact with floodwater.
WHO claims that even the slightest amount of flood water can be dangerous. Hence, to avoid flooding and standing water.
Avoid eating foods that have come in contact with flood water to avoid water-borne disease.
Cleans your house carefully with soap and water, as well as bleach if required.
Protect yourself from mosquito bites.
