Noida Hospital Hazard: A very shocking incident from Noida has raised serious concerns about the hospital, safety and infrastructure. Two oxygen pipeline explosions happened in Noida Private Medical Hospital within 15 hours, putting the lives of people on risk who were admitted to the ICU. When the blast happened, it created panic among hospital staff and attendants as thick smoke and loud noise shook the ICU area. Thankfully, because of the awareness of hospital staff, no casualties were reported. Although the district health department has now sealed the hospital and suspended its license, pointing out that it is a serious case of poor maintenance and negligence.
This horrible incident took place at Mark Hospital and Trauma Centre, which is located in Sector 66, Noida. According to the reports, the first blast happened on Sunday afternoon because a short circuit occurred near the ICU ceiling, which caused a fire in the oxygen pipeline. That time, eight patients were getting treated in the ICU, but all were safely evacuated and got shifted with portable oxygen support within a few minutes. Even after emergency repair, the second explosion happened in the same area on Monday morning within 15 hours, spreading fear across the premises once again.
After the second explosion, all the patients were shifted to the nearby hospital. The chief medical officer of Gautam Budh Nagar, Narendra Kumar, visited the place of the accident with his team and later issued a notice to seal the hospital. Not only this, but the department also ordered to suspend the license of the hospital for feeling to follow standard safety norms and maintenance checks.
According to the recent reports a short circuit happened near the oxygen pipeline, caused overheating, and gas leak that lead to a big explosion. Exports quoted that hospitals electrical setup was too close to the oxygen system. That became the reason of ignition. A joint enquiry committee has been made to figure out the exact cause and make sure that this may not happen in other hospitals, as well.
