Negligence of Indore hospital's doctors leads to the death of new born

A new born girl died here at the district hospital, allegedly due to the negligence of the doctors, and then her body was allowed to be attacked by swarms of ants, sources said. Indore District Collector P. Narahari has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the case of alleged medical negligence and the way the new-born's body was allowed to be infested with ants, the hospital's Civil Surgeon Ratan Khandelwal told IANS on Tuesday. Delivered on Friday by Sangeeta, wife of Suresh Baghel of Sirpur, the baby girl died on Monday while still in hospital. Her parents said the girl died because she did not receive proper treatment at the hospital. They and other relatives also created a scene at the hospital, venting their anger at the doctors. The baby's body was then kept in the hospital's mortuary for post mortem examination. It was subsequently found to have been fed upon by ants, exposing continued negligence of the hospital authorities. (Read: WHO sets up a surveillance network to track birth defects in newborns)
