Narayana Multispecialty Hospital, a unit of Narayana Health, will organize free breast cancer screening camps in Whitefield and HSR Layout during this month. The mobile mammography unit Ayana bus will travel to four different locations to create awareness on Breast Cancer and early detection. . The free screening camp will commence at Narayana Multispecialty Clinic, AECS Layout, Whitefield on 6th March, 2017, and will provide free consultation with a detailed breast examination apart from teaching methods of self-breast examination. As per a recent report by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), breast cancer has become the most common cancer among women in urban India with more than 1, 44,000 new cases diagnosed every year.

According to doctors at Narayana Multispecialty Hospital, late presentation is one of the biggest challenges in India. More than 50% of patients present themselves in the 3rd and 4th stage affecting the outcome and calling for early screening. Symptoms such as any lump or thickening in the breast, dimpling or change in shape or appearance of the nipple discharge should not be ignored as they are the initial signs of developing breast cancer.
