Yoga got a strong backing on the world stage since Narendra Modi called for observing the International Yoga Day. Recently few enthusiasts even performed yoga in the Great Wall of China to mark the day. Our PM has been tweeting yoga poses on a daily basis and today s yoga asana is pavanmukhtasana or wind relieving pose. This asana is great to get rid of abdominal gas and enhance blood circulation in the hip and joints.

Narendra Modi Tweeted:

Steps to do the asana:

  • Lie flat on the floor with your hands by the sides of your body and your legs outstretched.
  • As you inhale, bend your knees and slowly bring them to your chest.
  • Lift your head up and touch your knee with your forehead.
  • Hold this position for a few consecutive breaths.
  • As you exhale, slowly release your legs to the ground.
  • Lay in shavasana or corpse pose for a few seconds and sit in sukhasana or easy pose.

Word of caution:

Avoid this asana if you have high blood pressure, hernia or slipped disc.
