Narendra Modi took a step forward to bring yoga to the forefront of the world, and he has been quite successful so far. The Modi government is going all out to promote the International Yoga Day. The PM has been tweeting on a regular basis on the yoga asanas and their importance. Today s yoga pose is bhramari pranayama or the humming bee. It is a great breathing technique to relieve tension, anger and anxiety. It also improves concentration and memory and builds confidence.

Steps to do the asana:

  • Sit in sukhasana or easy pose and keep your eyes closed.
  • Now place the index fingers of each hand on each ear. Place it on the cartilage between your cheek and ear.
  • Take a deep breath in and begin to hum softly. Extend for as long as you can.
  • Breathe in again and continue the same for 6-7 times and relax.
  • You can practise this 3-4 times in a day. Perform it on an empty stomach.

Tip:

  • Ensure that you finger in on the cartilage and not inside your ear.
  • Keep your mouth closed while you make the humming sound.
