Swine flu has managed to claim 926 lives so far and affected more than 16000 people. The government has been blamed for its inefficiency to manage this disease even after a swine flu epidemic is not new to India. Lack of awareness not only among the masses but also political leaders has only questioned the 'seriousness' of the government while dealing with swine flu. Dearth of medicines, disposable masks, no policy in place for health workers are a few things highlighting this mess. However, putting these things behind, the health Minister has assured people that the government is 'very serious' in putting an end to this mess. He also mentioned the recent imposition of section 144 which prevents people from gathering in groups as a precautionary measure and a control strategy. Nadda, also rubbished the claims of shortage of vaccines and informed that all government hospitals are well equipped with adequate number of medical kits, vaccines, isolation wards and personal protection equipments. He blamed the false news of this shortage for the panic that has been created.
