Mumbai's mayor the new Alia Bhatt, calls swine flu a heart disease

Another case of ignorance and irresponsibility of lawmakers comes into light, after Mumbai's Mayor Snehal Ambekar, following the steps of West Bengal Chief Minister, was on a bout of making ignorant remarks about swine flu. She confidently said that swine flu is a heart disease and informed that the municipal authority will plant trees to check the disease. On the occasion of Shiv Jayanti today, Ambekar, after garlanding the statue of Shivaji Maharaj, told reporters that swine flu is a heart disease and hence BMC will plant trees, develop gardens and parks to check swine flu. (Read: 10 facts about swine flu you should know)

It has been proved that her apathy has reached unclaimed heights when she thought that a heart disease can be cured or averted by planting trees and developing parks and gardens.

It is very sad fact that such a statement is made by when the country is gripped by this horrific epidemic called swine flu. The virus has claimed more 600 lives across the country and new cases spring up every moment. Maharashtra itself has reported 83 swine flu deaths so far.
