Mumbai Rains: Non-stop monsoon rains brought Mumbai and its neighbouring districts to a standstill, with train services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane suspended until further notice. A civic official said that heavy rainfall has been battering Mumbai since Saturday, with the intensity increasing from 9 am, Monday.
Although shuttle services are running between Thane to Karjat, Kholi and Kasara Station, many schools, colleges and civic offices remain shut down as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'red' alert warning of extreme rainfall in the coming days.
On Monday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced a holiday for all schools following heavy Mumbai rains, including afternoon-shift schools set to remain closed.

According to Mumbai Traffic Police, waterlogging has occurred in several places, including Gulalwadi, Sewri, Nagpada, Nawab Tank, Maratha Mandir, Byculla, Bawla compound, Bhoiwada, Wadala station, Hindmata junction and Matunga.
According to reports, so far, Maharashtra's Marathwada region has recorded at least 11 deaths amid heavy rainfall since August 14, and widespread damage to property and agriculture.
Nanded reported 7 deaths and crop damage across 2,59,789 hectares, Hingoli recorded 2 deaths and damage to 56,806 hectares, while Beed reported 2 deaths and 2,045 hectares of crop damage.
