Mumbai Marathon one of the biggest fundraising events in the country was held this Sunday morning. People from all sections of the society participated in the run this morning. Business icon Anil Ambani and Bollywood stars John Abraham, Gul Panag, Rahul Bose and Dia Mirza were the first ones to arrive Azad Maidan sports ground in South Mumbai this morning.The chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadanvis also attracted huge crowd in the sports ground. Mumbai witnessed a surprisingly pleasant climate this morning making it perfect for the runners.
Marathon winners of last year Evans Ruto and Jackson Kiprop actively participated in the run. The run commenced at 5:40 in the morning and all the races ended by noon leaving the participants and crowd with mixed feelings. The total prize money for the winner is $3,60,000. Indrajeet Patel and Atwa Bhagat from India were one of the first to touch the finish line in half marathon men. Karan Singh and Arjun Pradhan were the winners in full marathon men. Karan Singh touched the finish line in just 2 hours, 29 minutes and 35 seconds. Among women, Kavita Raut completed the 21 km half marathon run in just one hour and nineteen minutes. Women from Ethiopia Dinknesh Mekash and Kumeshi Sichala were the clear winners of full marathon women.
