Five residents of Mankhurd were arrested for the Mumbai Holi mishap by the Dharavi police. They owned dye shops and negligently left the scrap dye in gunny bags since last year. They had bought lots of dye last year from the scrap wholesale market, refined it illegally and sold it to paint companies. The BMC demolished their shop which was doing this illegally and took all their material except these five bags filled with dye containing benzene, the deadly chemical.
Currently, the death toll stands at one and another patient, 12 year old Ritik Trishul's condition is still serious at KEM Hospital. Over 200 people are admitted at various hospitals and are still suffering.
