There's no way you prevent or stop the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As you age your skin is bound to get loose and it will show the signs of ageing. But what if there was a cream that you could just apply and your wrinkles would simply disappear? Scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have done just that. They have engineered a second skin of sort that can temporarily make your wrinkles look less intense which that may make you look a lot younger.
Daniel Anderson from MIT explains in a video that this second skin is not like a bandage or other coatings that are visible and can make you uncomfortable at times. They have developed this second skin which invisible, breathable and can protect the skin. The video also shows the difference between the skin treated with the cream and untreated skin. Treated skin appears smooth and firm whereas untreated skin appears wrinkled and loose.
What is this second skin?
It is a cream that when applied forms a thin, transparent, invisible and elastic layer which acts like a second skin. The cream is applied in two stages. First, a transparent, invisible cream which has a polymer in it is applied to the skin and then a second cream which is a catalyst is applied. This catalyst undergoes a cross-linking reaction and forms a thin, soft and adherent layer on the top of your skin. This layer is not just invisible but is also mechanically strong. Uses--
One of the most obvious uses will be in cosmetics. It can be used to camouflage wrinkles and tighten skin. Another use would be in therapeutics where it could be used as a plastic ointment that can effectively deliver drugs to the skin to treat different skin diseases.
