Former NASCAR driver Michael Annett died unexpectedly at the age of 39, according to JR Motorsports and his management team. The racing team took to X, formerly known as Twitter and wrote, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Annett family on the passing of our friend Michael Annett. Michael was a key member of JRM from 2017 until he retired in 2021 and was an important part in turning us into the four-car organisation we remain today."

Michael Annett's Cause of Death

While no official cause of death has been announced so far, fellow NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski stated that Annett was suffering. Brad Keselowski commented on X that he is "glad Annett is no longer suffering."

"I recall this day well. Michael was a rising star at the same time that I was, and he looked great. In the end, Life brought us down separate routes, and all of us who knew him and appreciated his brilliance are saddened to see him go, but relieved he is no longer suffering," Keselowski tweeted.

It is unknown whether Annett was ill. His driving career ended in 2021 when he suffered a stress fracture in his right leg, contributing to his retirement.

Michael Annett, 39, had the most successful stretch of his career with JR Motorsports, which he joined in 2017 and made 158 Xfinity Series starts. Annett made his Xfinity Series debut in 2008 and moved full-time the following year, totalling 321 starts.
