Ladies, here's some interesting news. It's not women, but men who take the most selfies. Yes, according to a new study men take twice as more selfies as women and are more often the ones to share them online too.

Who carried out the study?

The smartphone company HTC surveyed 2,000 Britishers and found that a quarter of men shares selfies to make their ex or current partner jealous, the Daily Star reported. The survey disclosed that 76 per cent men took selfies as compared to 45 per cent of women, where around 20 per cent of male shots show their chest, followed by 17 per cent of their torso or six packs.

What did the study find?

The researchers found that men post an average of three self portraits each week as compared to women who post 1.6 pictures, and they do so to make themselves appear more desirable.

Ben Walsh of HTC said that the selfie trend exploded in 2014 and showed no signs of slowing down, instead of that with all the social sites and dating apps having the best possible photos was an important part.

Here are the basics of taking a selfie

Don t think you can fool people with a fake smile. A fake smile has no takers. When it comes to expressing your emotions, your eyes can be truly revealing. As pretty as you might be with that lovely broad smile, don t just rely on your pearly whites. This also means you got to know your smile. Sometimes a lop-sided or half smile fits just right. You can choose to flash your teeth but don t overdo it. Let your upper teeth show but don t open your mouth all at once.

Pouts don t work for everybody. They surely are an attention seeker, but not all attention is good and you certainly don t want to feature on someone s fail list. Some women or even men just have pout-perfect lips and can pull off such pictures effortlessly. Even if you get down to giving it a try, something could go amiss. Any discomfort on your face or in your body language is captured as is, so it s probably best not to risk it. (Read more about tips for taking a selfie.)
