Smt Sheila Dixit launched the 'Citizen Plus Card' Initiative by Max Super Speciality Hospital in Patparganj. This is the first of its kind privilege card which will extend specialized healthcare services to India's growing number of senior citizens/aged population.
The Citizen Plus Card will entitle seniors over 55 years of age to avail a range of medical facilities and related amenities at the hospital. The card will entitle holders to avail benefits on all Preventive Health check-ups, diagnostic services, Ambulance services, OPD Consults, medicines and room rents resulting in major savings. The card will also give access to Citizen Plus Park and Recreational Centre which have been set up by the hospital for senior citizens.
According to Union Health Ministry estimates, the number of people in the 60-plus age group in India will increase to 100 million in 2013 and to 198 million in 2030.The elderly population is expected to increase to 12% of the total population by 2025, 10% of which would be bedridden, requiring utmost care. The card has been introduced keeping their needs in mind.
Sheila Dixit, also inaugurated the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit (BMT Unit) of the hospital. Commenting on the launch of BMT Unit, Dr Harit Chaturvedi, Chairman- Oncology Department stated, 'Bone marrow transplant has been used successfully to treat diseases such as leukemias, lymphomas, aplastic anemia, thallesemia, immune deficiency disorders. This high end facility at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Patparganj is backed by intensive care infrastructure & other tertiary level departments.
