A massive earthquake of 7.1 magnitude struck the Nepal-Tibet border region today claiming at least 95 lives and injuring more than 130. As per media reports, the tremors of the quake was also felt in parts of India like Bihar, West Bengal and Assam. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the epicentre was in Tingri county in Shigatse city, 400 km southwest of Tibet's capital Lhasa, also bordring Nepal. The quake was recorded at 6:35 am which was followed by two aftershocks, state's NCS data. The magnitude of the two aftershocks has been recorded of 4.7 at 7 am and 4.9 at 7:07 am. Tremors were felt in parts of Northern India but there have been no reports of damage.
