This picture of Mark Zuckerberg and his daughter Maxima enjoying some father-daughter bonding time while swimming is really touching. The picture shows how carefully the billionaire father is holding his baby s delicate head and balancing her while she enjoys the soothing experience. Her father shared the picture on Facebook with a caption, Max s first swim. She loves it. Of course, it s the baby s first swimming lesson as she is just two months old. So we wonder isn t it little early to introduce baby Maxima to swimming classes?
Well, at least according to the American Association of Pediatrics children can safely take swim lessons as early as age 1. Till 2010, the age limit was 4. The reason was simple fear of drowning and infections were prime factors to keep babies away from the pool. However, a study published in the journal Archives of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine showed that there is an 88 percent reduction in drowning in babies aged one to four years who took swimming lessons . However, parents should realise that early swimming wouldn t make one an early swimmer. Children will only learn to swim on their own once six or seven years of age. Taking your child to the pond early might just help her develop a love for the activity and leave the fear of water behind when she is ready to splash around on her own. Here is how swimming keeps your healthy and fit.
Most parents take their child to the pool as early as six months too. This is done to spend time bonding with the child rather than trying to make her a younger swimmer. We believe that is exactly what the founder CEO of Facebook has been doing. Stealing time out of his busy schedule and taking a soothing dip in the lake with his daughter. We are really proud of this hands-on dad. Here are 11 things a father can do differently to bond with his child.
Well, if you are in India and wish to take your baby swimming, just wait. Most swimming pools in India would not allow you to take your child to the pool till she is four. The water in the pool usually is chlorinated which could lead to infections in young babies. So before taking your child swimming like Mark Zuckerberg make sure you check with the club or the pool manager if it is safe for infants.
