National award winning Malayalam actress Kalpana died of a heart attack in Hyderabad early Monday morning. The actress was attending the HAIFA award function and was also shooting for a Telugu and a Tamil movie.

Kalpana had won a national award for the best actor in a supporting role in the movie Njaan Thanichalla in 2012. She debuted in MT Vasudevan Nair's Manj in 1983 and acted in around 300 films. She was last seen in Malayalam movie Charlie.

According to reports, she was found unconscious in her hotel room at around 6.00 am on Monday morning and was rushed to Apollo Hospital. The doctors suspect that she died of a heart attack.

It was also reported that Kalpana was suffering from some heart-valve related problems and was undergoing treatment for the same.

A heart attack is preventable of you are aware of its signs and symptoms. When a heart muscle or a part of the heart gets damaged due to lack of blood supply, the chances of one suffering from heart attack increases. It is usually caused due to a block in the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Also called as myocardial infarction, a heart attack can be fatal.

Difficulty in breathing, discomfort or pain arising from the centre of the chest which is accompanied by suffocation are a few warning signs of a heart attack. However, not everyone exhibits these classic warning signs. Anxiety, cough, fainting, dizziness, feeling light headed, palpitations, shortness of breath and heavy sweating are a few other signs of a heart attack.
