Washington, Dec 02: The director of the airborne transmission (CDC) has denied possibility that Ebola is spread through airborne transmission saying that the virus only spreads through direct contact with an infected person's bodily fluids and does not spread in any other way.
According to the Washington Times, the Obama administration had also said yesterday that the virus wreaking havoc in West Africa is unlikely to mutate and spread by air. CDC said that changes resulting in new forms of transmission would need multiple mutations over a very long period. (Read: What is the Ebola virus disease survival rate?)
Leading scientists have advised the U.S. Congress and the public for months that Ebola is spread through direct contact with an infected person's bodily fluids. The CDC has issued specific guidelines on how to assess air passengers for Ebola infection, and states have established quarantine and monitoring rules for people who were exposed to infected patients.
