London, Nov 18: Bob Geldof has revealed that sales of the new Band Aid single for Ebola crisis have been 'manic' since its launch. While speaking on Radio 4's 'Today', the 63-year-old musician and campaigner, who admitted to be nervous at the start, said that iTunes had gone crazy and they had received 'a million quid within 4 or 5 minutes,' the BBC reported.
The single features biggies like Ed Sheeran and One Direction, and had claimed the top spot at the iTunes chart within an hour of going on sale. Band Aid 30 had its international premiere on 'The X Factor', and the track is now available to download at a cost of 99p, with a CD version soon to be released, costing 4 pounds. The singer said that the single really been in demand and he believed they could stop this 'plague' adding that 100 percent of proceeds would go towards the relief effort. Geldof has also confirmed Adele, whose absence from the Band Aid 30 line-up has not gone unnoticed, had not responded to their request to take part, saying that she didn't even bother to 'pick the phone.'
