Singer Liam Payne death: There has been extensive coverage on the death of the late 'One Direction' band member Liam Payne, who died at the age of 31 in the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires in October 2024, after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel, where he had been staying. Detailed investigation following his death revealed heartbreaking facts about the night he died, shocking fans around the world. It was reported during that time that prior to his fall, the singer was in an inebriated state; in fact, he had even wrecked the room he was lodged in. Moments before the fatal fall that claimed his life, a frantic call was made to the emergency services by the hotel staff, who claimed the musician had been "overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol", and was in and out of consciousness throughout. They feared for his life.

The pop singer had reportedly sustained significant head injuries that were sure to have caused his death. In November 2024, a press release by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 14 stated that the singer's toxicology results were shared with his family. According to several news outlets that translated the press release from Spanish, in the 72-hour period before his death, Payne -- who was also a father-of-one -- had traces of 'alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants' in his blood.

In another press release issued by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 14 earlier this month, it has been mentioned that the One Direction singer had 'alcohol concentrations of up to 2.7 grams per litre in blood at the time of death'. Payne also reportedly had 'cocaine metabolites, methylecgonine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene and the medication sertraline' in his system at the time of death, as mentioned in the release, which has been translated from Spanish and quoted by international news outlets.
According to alcohol.org, when it comes to blood alcohol concentration (BAC), 2.7 grams per litre equates to .27 per cent, which can make a person feel confused, dazed, and disoriented. "Sensations of pain will change, so if you fall and seriously hurt yourself, you may not notice, and you are less likely to do anything about it. Nausea and vomiting are likely to occur, and the gag reflex will be impaired, which could cause choking or aspiration on vomit," alcohol.org mentions.
