Lalu Prasad Yadav Health Updates: Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yada, who is battling heart-related ailments has been hospitalised after his health worsened due to a spike in blood sugar levels.

Lalu Yavad Health News: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, was hospitalised on Wednesday after his health deteriorated while he was on his way to the Patna airport to fly to Delhi. The RJD chief is battling severe kidney damage and heart-related ailment. He is 76.

According to reports, Lalu Yadav was to board an Air India flight at 4.05 pm, and has been admitted to Paras Hospital. Speaking to the media, health officials said, "Lalu Prasad, who is battling heart-related ailments, worsened due to a spike in blood sugar levels. The RJD chief is likely to be taken to AIIMS, Delhi, in an air ambulance later today."

"We knew that his blood pressure and sugar level were fluctuating. He is going to Delhi, and he will return after a check-up. There is no need to worry. The blessings of 13 crore people of Bihar are with him. He is one who always fights against communal forces... he is required," RJD leader Bhai Virendra told reporters.

Lalu Yadav's Health Issues - Detailed Report

The former Bihar Chief Minister has been contending with multiple health issues over the years. In 2014, he underwent open-heart surgery in Mumbai, during which his aortic valve was replaced, and a small hole in his heart was repaired. In 2022, he had a kidney transplant in Singapore, with his daughter, Rohini Acharya, serving as the donor. More recently, in September 2024, he underwent angioplasty in Mumbai to address heart-related issues.

The RJD supremo's health has been a concern for several years. Reports also suggest that he has been managing diabetes and hypertension, which have further complicated his current health status.

The socialist leader, known for his quirky style and mass appeal, is serving jail sentences in a number of fodder scam cases, and is out on bail on medical grounds.

The RJD supremo, his wife Rabri Devi, and son Tejashwi Yadav have also been named in the land-for-jobs case. Lalu Prasad has been accused of giving jobs in the railways during his tenure as minister in lieu of plots of land from the candidates or their relatives.
