UK Monarch's Deteriorating Condition

The declining health of King Charles reportedly began after he was first diagnosed with a form of cancer after undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate. In the months that followed, King Charles was seen in many public engagements in frail condition. At one point he was seen with a noticeably swollen finger and another time with bloodshot eyes. Now with the release of a new book by a Royal biographer, Jobson revealed that the King is suffering from sleep apnoea.

What Is Sleep Apnoea?

Sleep apnoea is a medical condition that occurs when a person's breathing stops and restarts during sleep. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) states that this condition can prevent your body from getting sufficient oxygen. There are two types of sleep apnoea: obstructive sleep apnoea and central sleep apnoea. The US health agency claims that about 50 to 70 million Americans have sleep apnoea.

A person living with sleep apnoea may experience problems in focusing on certain things, decisions making, remembering things, or controlling their behaviour. The best treatment for sleep apnoea is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines and lifestyle changes. This medical condition also increases the risk of stroke, heart disease and others.
