Ki & Ka official trailer: Arjun Kapoor as a 'wife' and Kareen Kapoor as a 'husband' -- here's why I don't agree!

I have a problem with Kareena Kapoor calling Arjun Kapoor a 'Housewife' in the movie Ki & Ka. What's your opinion?

My first reaction to the trailer of the movie Ki & Ka was 'I gotta watch this one!'This one stands out for many reasons --

1. An older woman romancing a much younger guy, and how!

2. It's a R. Balki movie.

3. The plot of the movie (Arjun Kapoor plays a 'homemaker' -- I refuse to refer to him as a 'housewife') is definitely very interesting and such a set-up in a relationship needs to be discussed more often.

I personally know a few men who were homemakers while the wives fulfilled the role of a breadwinner. However, none of them made a choice, unlike Arjun Kapoor's character in the movie, which is very interesting. In our fast progressing, yet 'clinging to the roots' society, men really do not have the option to choose anything other than struggling to have a flourishing career and provide for their family, lest they want to be tagged as a'sissy', 'loser' and other such colorful titles. Even the ones that are following their passion, even they are working towards having a career.

Things that won the brownie points

I love the fact that Arjun Kapoor's character is all masculine -- cue the lovemaking scenes, the action scenes and him specifically stating that he is definitely a straight, macho man who'd rather run a house than running after a career. Also that Kareena Kapoor's character is a lady so much in love, swooning over the guy and treating him the way you treat, well, a husband. No 'mera pati, mera devta' nonsense here, nor 'I wear the pants in this relationship'! Full points over there! This is what a healthy relationship looks like.

Things that went downhill

Now to the things that, for me, went horribly wrong. I understand that it is, after all, a bollywood masala movie, yet the fact that Kareena ties a mangalsutra around Arjun's neck and explicitly calls him a 'housewife' left a bitter taste in my mouth. On the outlook, they both are equally invested in the relationship and fulfilling whatever roles they can to their fullest, so why the branding? Why is the term 'housewife' associated to being a homemaker. This aspect is confusing to me. Also, I was already a fan of the movie when Arjun was shown all macho and doing what he was doing with complete ease. Then he was shown wearing heels! Is it in a way to hint that Kareena is, indeed, clearly wearing the pants in the relationship?

My two cents to people in such a set-up or aspiring to be, understand that you both are equal partners and need to make the relationship work. Husband and wife are just terms to put a tag on you, they do not define any roles.
