Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has signed a partnership agreement in education, training and research in healthcare with Healthcare UK.
In a statement in Chennai on Thursday, the British deputy high commission in Chennai said: 'The scope of collaboration includes development of the JIPMER School of Public Health (JISPH) organisation of co-operative seminars, workshops and other academic meetings, strategic partnership between JIPMER and a leading UK institution(s).'
The partnership also includes exchange of knowledge, expertise, students and faculty; mentoring and monitoring, capacity building through sharing of curriculum from UK universities and others. (Also read: Jayalalithaa asks PM to levy user charges at JIPMER)
The statement said the Puducherry-based JIPMER has earmarked Rs.150 crore to develop JISPH in the 12th Plan budget.
