With an aim to make healthcare accessible to all, honourable State Charity Commissioner Shri Shivkumar Dige organized a free general health screening on 4th November 2017 for the economically disadvantaged people. Leading this initiative is a renowned name in the healthcare space- Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre. The objective of this drive was to educate the underprivileged about the health benefits & schemes available for them at trust run hospitals across the city. Three well equipped mobile ambulances were used for the general screening which took place at the Worli Milk Dairy Development office, Tardeo Tulsiwadi post office and covered up till Worli slum area. The screening helped in early detection of health problems for many who were given the immediate medical attention they needed. More than 255 no of people were motivated to take various tests made available by Jaslok hospital. Benefits of free first aid facility were given to the individuals and medicines like antibiotics were prescribed to the patients. Doctors along with a team of nurses provided the consultation to the underprivileged. To bridge the gap between the state of unawareness amongst the economically challenged, Jaslok Hospital took the initiative for a futuristic approach. The event worked well in resolving wider health issues amongst the individuals.
Honourable Shri Shivkumar Dige, Charity Commissioner of Maharashtra said This drive is a pilot project intended to educate and create awareness amongst the people living below the poverty line that they can avail medical facilities at charitable hospitals. Hospitals like Jaslok Hospital and many other charitable hospitals are a part of this drive and this is just the beginning. Most of the slum dwellers do not have access to quality health services and hence this is a great opportunity to go door to door to provide them with basic health screening. At Jaslok Hospital, we constantly look towards helping the underprivileged in ways to keep them healthy.
