Japanese popular anime director Tatsuya Nagamine passed away at 53, on August 20, his family confirmed on November 14. The anime community around the world are left in utter shock for the loss of the acclaimed director known for his work on One Piece Film: Z, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and Wano Country Arc of the One Piece anime series.

A statement released by Tatsuya Nagamine's family on X (previously Twitter) revealed that the funeral of the Japanese anime director was held quietly with only close relatives present on November 13, hosted by Toei Animation.

Tatsuya Nagamine's Cause Of Death Yet To Be Revealed

"Thank you always for your support. We are Nagamine Tatsuya's family. He had been undergoing medical treatment since last year, but he passed away on August 20 at the age of 53," Tatsuya Nagamine's family wrote on X.

"To his family, he was a very kind, warm, and caring man; he was the best father and husband in the world. He continued to take on treatment with a positive attitude and worked as hard as anyone could. I think he was fighting his illness motivated by the desire to return home and to work."

Tatsuya Nagamine's loved ones continued writing, "We are very sad and disappointed that this has happened. However, I am proud of him and thankful that he has always enjoyed his work, child-rearing, and housework to the fullest. I hope that he is now resting peacefully in the clouds, meeting with his seniors and creators, and talking about creating something new!"

The Director's Family Thanked His Fans

With a heartfelt note to fans, the family concluded the social media post by thanking the animation community and people who loved Tatsuya Nagamine and his work. It read, "I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped me. I hope that you will continue to enjoy and love the works he has been involved in. Thank you for your tremendous support. It is a beautiful sunny day today in Nerima, where Oizumi Studio is located, where he spent more than half his life. The whole family."
