Heart attackIvabradine, the wonder drug which could save thousands of heart patients every year has now been approved by regulators in Europe. Data suggests that it could cut death rates by upto 39%.

In a heart failure, the heart is too weak to pump blood leading to breathlessness, high heart rate and other issues. Experts say that the drug Ivabradine works by slowing the heart rate, but does not decrease blood pressure. This helps in improving symptoms as well as prevents the progress of the disease.

In India, Ivabradine has been prescribed for stable angina (chest pain) under the name Coralan manufactured by Servier.
