In the past, there had been various inventions in medical science to alleviate pain or manage it better with minimal troubles. But now there is a new way to help you deal with pain and it is unique. Researchers have recently found that a compound based on a spider toxin may be effective for treating pain. Experiments conducted in rats revealed that the compound, called PnPP-19, provided pain relief most likely by acting on receptors in the nervous system that also bind opioids and cannabis (or marijuana). Interestingly, PnPP-19 is also being studied as a drug candidate to treat erectile dysfunction. Here are 10 ways to manage pain the natural way.
Now, erectile dysfunction is a condition that leads to low libido and performance issues in bed for men. While there are other medications and treatments to treat this condition, it is interesting to see that a drug that is touted for pain management recently could also help to treat ED. Here are some foods that can help you deal with ED without any pain or surgery.
Lead author Dr. Maria de Lima said their findings revealed that at least part of the mechanism of action underlying the pain relieving effects induced by PnPP-19. Dr. Lima added that they also may contribute to the consideration of PnPP-19 as a potential lead compound for the development of new drug candidates to treat pain. However, the study is in its nascent stage and could take some time before the spider toxin gets the status of being a real drug for pain management. Here are 10 things you should know about pain management.
The study has been published in the British Journal of Pharmacolo.
