Officials from the World Health Organisation (WHO) recently clarified by stating that, "Mpox is not the new COVID" and that it is preventable and can be stopped. The disease mpox has raised serious concerns across the world after it resulted in the death of almost 450 people in Africa. However, concerns regarding it being similar to COVID ws quickly dismissed by WHO officials when they stated that it is easily preventable and officials know exactly how to do it. They also went on to say that, it does not natter if this variant Clade I of mpox is new, it can be cured with routine measures and careful tackling.
The World Health Organisation has stated clear guidelines in order to tackle the outbreak to countries. The Regional Director of Europe clarified to the media that since mpox is not a threat like COVID-19, they are not recommending the use of masks yet and there is also no re4ason to issue a lockdown in the European region. However, tackling the disease and its spread across regions and continents is crucial. This is why countries must adhere to all the guidelines especially with regards to people travelling from one country to another. They are also not recommending mass vaccination however, travelers who are due to go to Africa are advised to be vaccinated for safety.
