It is the International Day of the girl child and being a 25-year-old, today when I look back in life, I see so many things I did and decisions I made as a young girl in India. Some of them were worth it and some weren't. I would first like to appreciate myself and all the women around the world to make it through. However, there are a few things that I wish I could tell the little me or any other little girl growing in India:
1. Do not say no to sleep, you are really going to miss that when you grow up and you miss sleeping so bad.
2. Try out everything you want to do in life in your own little ways. Do everything you love, you never know what hidden talent you might have.
3. School grades are fine but you are beyond that. Ultimately, more than your marks your attitude towards life and your knowledge will make you a woman.
4. Spend as much time with your parents as possible. Later in life, it might be difficult for you be in touch with them.
5. Your friends are not always right, don't give in to peer pressure. They are of your age too, how do you expect them to the right things always?

6. Give some time to yourself. I know hanging out with friends sound more alluring but it will help you become a better person and know yourself more.
7. Don't do things you don't like. Listen to your heart's NO and YES. Not only will it make you a stronger person but it will also make your life easier.
8. That cell phone is going to make you addicted to it and waste a lot of your time get over it already. Use it to the minimal. Trust me, mom is right!
9. When it comes to boys in your life,be extremely careful. Don't let them rule your life.
10. Don't shout at mom and say that she doesn't know things. You'll regret that, big time.
