Ramdev Baba's Patanjali Noddles have been in the news ever since they have been launched. Previously they were in the news for not having an FSSAI approval and now after they are available in the market they are in the news because someone in Jind, Haryana found insects in the instant noodle packet. Patanjali had previously claimed that their brand of noodles was healthy and safe and had not flouted any rules but insects inside the packet are far from healthy.

The news is going viral on social media and various media publications have carried it. It is reported that bugs were spotted inside the sealed pack by a man and the packet was purchased from some Swadeshi store in Narwana. Apparently, the shopkeeper has admitted that the packet was purchased from his outlet. The man has now decided to file litigation against Patanjali.

We tried getting in touch with Patanjali to verify the news, but despite repeated calls no one was available to comment.

Baba Ramdev had launched Patanjali instant noodles immediately after Nestle's Maggi noodles were banned and millions of packets of Maggi noodles were pulled out of the market. FSSAI had banned Maggi noodles because some samples had lead and MSG content beyond the permissible limit. However, after repeated quality checks, FSSAI lifted the ban on Maggi in November after five months.

Patanjali is yet to comment on this news. But we can't help but speculate how the insect landed inside the packet. Patanjali has always claimed that their noodles are safe, so is it just a one-off case that insects were found inside a sealed packet? And even if it is a one-off case, why are the quality control measures taken by Patanjali not strict enough?

Whatever the reasons, when a brand that swears by its quality doesn't deliver what is expected out of it, we feel let down!
