Indrani Mukerjea reportedly in critical condition

Indrani Mukerjea, has taken ill and is said to be critical. According to reports the lady was taken to JJ Hospital after complaining of uneasiness. Indrani Mukerjea, is the prime accused in Sheena Bora murder case who is currently in jail. As per a report by PTI, Indrani was brought to the hospital today and we are diagnosing her ailment, T P Lahane, Dean of J J Hospital, told PTI. The 43-year-old former media executive is lodged in Arthur Road Jail under judicial custody. She was taken to the hospital after she complained of uneasiness , said DCP (Detection-1) Mohan Dahikar.

According to recent reports, she has been responding to treatment and is now in a semi-conscious state. She may fully recover in at least three days. "She is responding to voice commands, asked for water once but remains in a semi-conscious state. She is also on ventilator to help her breathe, we are waiting for the urine report to determine what could be the exact cause of her present condition," Lahane told mediapersons here on Saturday.

Indrani was arrested on August 25 for her alleged role in the murder of Sheena Bora, her daughter from a previous marriage, in April 2012. The two other accused in the case are Shyamvar Rai, Indrani's former driver and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna. The high-profile case was initially handled by Mumbai Police under the supervision of the then Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria and later transferred to CBI by Maharashtra government. The central agency last month filed a murder case against the three accused. On September 7, Indrani was sent to judicial custody. Her husband, Peter Mukerjea, former Star India CEO, was also questioned several times by police. Bora (24) was allegedly abducted by the three accused and killed inside a car after which her body was burnt and dumped into the jungles of adjoining Raigad district, police have said.
