According to the updates, Neelam Shinde is currently in a coma and her health conditions are critical, after suffering multiple severe internal injuries. Speaking to the media about the fatal crash, police confirmed that Neelam was hit by a four-wheeler, following which she suffered multiple fractures and serious injuries in her head and chest.

After Indian student Neelam Shinde was left battling for life due to a road accident in California, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has taken up a request for an urgent visa for her family with the United States.
In medical terminology, a coma is a fatal health status where the patient suffers from a prolonged state of unconsciousness where the patient remains unresponsive to external stimuli. According to studies published in medical journals such as The Lancet Neurology, coma patients exhibit varying degrees of brain activity depending on the severity of the injury.
Neelam Shinde's parents are seeking the government's help to get urgent VISA approval on the basis of a medical emergency, and MEA has stated that they are in talks with the US to get help for Neelam's parents.
"Medical research suggests that a patient's recovery is influenced not just by medical interventions but also by the presence of loved ones. In Neelam's case, her parents' presence will help her overcome the health challenges and come out of the coma successfully," experts were quoted as saying.
Neelam Shinde, who hails from Maharashtra's Satara district, was critically injured in the accident on February 14 and has been in a coma at a hospital since then. Neelam Shinde has reportedly suffered severe injuries to her head, hand, and chest. Her family has sought an urgent visa to travel to the US to be by her side.
