India Weather Update: The monsoon is ticking its presence in many parts of the country and the situation is now going iver the top as it has been noted in a recent warning that the IMD has issued a 'red' alert for the Madhya Maharashtra region, as well as an 'orange' alert for Gujarat, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa regions.
Amid the heavy rains in the state of Uttarakhand, the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) in the concerned state has taken a measure to issue a high-alert landslide warning for four of the districts of the state, which include Tehri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli. Such forecasts have been made by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and the alerts will continue to exist for today and tomorrow. It has been assumed that the region s may witness heavy to extremely intense rainfall which increases the possibility of the r the risk of slope failures and road blockages.
The state of Jharkhand too is seeing a rise in the rain, as the state has issued a flood warning that put the 12 districts in Jharkhand under threat of being stuck by a flood, the alert is till 5.30 pm on Monday, as it has been noted that moderate to heavy rainfall may pour and drown one of the major parts of the state.
The districts that have been put on high alert, underlining the flood risk, include Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, Ranchi, Bokaro, Saraikela, West and East Singhbhum, according to a bulletin of the weather agency.
Delhiites saw gentle rain to strike away their Monday blues as they woke up to a pleasant morning with light rain. The national capital is expected to see more episodes of rain in the latter part of the day. The IMD has said in its forecast that light to moderate rainfall, which might be accompanied by light thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds, might occur with speeds that can reach as high as 30-40 km/h. This is likely to happen not only in Delhi but also in the parts of the NCR, the National Capital Region.
The national capital experienced light showers in the morning, and that prompted the IMD to issue a yellow alert for the national capital and the other parts of the NCR. However, certain areas have been highlighted by the IMD's Delhi NCR Centre as they are assumed to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms; the areas include Rohtak and Palwal.
The residents of the area are asked to remain calm during any time of ordeal and not panic. The people living in areas that are prone to landslides are asked to stock in advance all the necessary items and stay together as a community in one region, as it might help alleviate the challenges.
