Hospital staffer arrested for attempting to rape 25-year old pregnant woman

The state of our healthcare services is truly deplorable. In a shocking incident a 20-year-old employee of a private lab near Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi was arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 25-year-old pregnant woman.

The woman was admitted to the gyaenacological ward due to complications in her last month of pregnancy. Praveen Kumar, the alleged, had come to the ward to deliver reports of another patient at around 1:30am where he tried to sexually assault the victim. Unfortunately for him, the on-duty doctor spotted him and raised an alarm. He was apprehended in the ward. A case of attempted rape has been registered against him.

On questioning, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital said that the only reason for such a mishap was that the gyaenacological department is under a lot of pressure due to which they have had to outsource their lab functions to private services. Praveen Kumar was the employee of one such private lab the duties were outsourced to.

As a promise to the media, the MS said that he would try to maintain all the lab functions within the hospital and streamline the procedure.
