Here are 5 home remedies that could help you keep your skin nourished and healthy during the monsoon:

Sandalwood has been a natural source of nourishment for the skin and heals it from blackheads, acne and any skin breakouts. It works as a moisturiser for all skin types.

Steps:

  • Take a bowl with 1 cup turmeric, rosewater and sandalwood and mix well.
  • Ensure this mixture turns into a fine paste.
  • Apply this paste for 30 minutes on your face and leave it to dry.
  • Wash it off with cold water.
  • People with dry skin can try this out twice a week.

2. Oatmeal pack for dead skin cells

Oatmeal provides for a great face pack to get rid of dead skin cells, skin irritation and redness caused during the monsoons. It leaves the skin supple and rejuvenated.

Steps:

  • Before you begin applying the face pack, ensure your skin is cleansed well.
  • Take 3 tablespoons of oatmeal, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 table spoon of curd and 1 egg white and mix well.
  • Keep this mixture to refrigerate for sometime before using.
  • Apply the paste on your face for half an hour at a time and leave it to dry.
  • Wash it off and leave it to dry.

3. Papaya, honey and milk face pack for moisturising

During the monsoons, the humidity causes the skin to lose its moisture, leaving it dull. Papaya contains vitamin A and C which help in restoring firmness, while honey moisturises and serves as a soothing agent for the skin surface. Make-up and hair expert Marissa Rodrigues suggests this paste for glowing skin.

Steps:

  • Take some cubes of papaya and mash well.
  • Add honey and some milk to the papaya paste.
  • Aplly all over your face and leave for 15 minutes.
  • Wash your face well with cold water.

4. Neem leaves with honey for acne

Neem possesses anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that cleanse the skin of any impurities and it also nourishes your skin. Marissa states, 'Neem is the perfect solution for acne and breakouts on the skin, caused due to the unfavorable weather.'

Steps:

  • Take few neem leaves and grind them into a fine paste.
  • Add few drops of rosewater and mix well with honey.
  • Apply on your face for over 15 minutes and rinse well with cold water.

5. Mixed tomato and potato face pack for all skin pigmentation

The monsoons often cause skin pigmentation and uneasiness on the face. For this, it could be best treated with the nutrients coming from a bunch of ingredients that would solve not only pigmentation but blemishes and acne as well. Marissa suggests the following paste.

Steps:

  • Make a paste with a few lemon drops, almond powder, a little curd, and tomato juice (fresh), potato juice (fresh), papaya and a little honey.
  • Ensure all the ingredients are finely mixed into a paste for smooth application. Use a facial flat brush for this,
  • Leave this paste on for 20 minutes and wash off with cold water.
