Heatwave alert in India LIVE updates: Northern India is set to face its first major heatwave of the season, according to the latest weather updates by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Several pockets of the country are expected to witness temperatures crossing 44 degrees Celsius. An alert has been issued across Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The IMD has predicted that the sudden spike, 4 to 7 degrees above normal, signals an early and intense summer.
As per the latest updates, the IMD has indicated a 2 4 C rise above normal across northwest India. Alongside Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana are likely to experience intense daytime heating. A yellow alert remains in place for Delhi, signalling growing heat stress and the need for caution.

With the temperature expected to rise above 43 degrees Celcius, experts have warned about rising health issues. Dehydration, stroke, heart attack, and brain stroke are expected to surge in the country if people fail to ensure they are following proper protocols to battle this summer. So what is the remedy? Be sure to follow heat protocols that can keep your body cool and calm from the inside. Below are some of the most essential and important tips that everyone needs to follow right now to stay safe:
Drink water and stay hydrated. During the summer, it is important to ensure that your body is well-hydrated from within. You may also add high-water-content fruits and vegetables. These include - watermelon, cucumber, mint leaves, lemon juice, and oranges.
Do not forget to apply a good-quality sunscreen before stepping out of your house. Sunscreen will help prevent skin allergies and issues that extreme heat exposure can cause. If proper care is not taken, you will suffer skin burn or even skin cancer.
Eat healthy and ensure your food is not cooked using excessive oil and spices. Having such spicy and oily foods can invite gastrointestinal health issues, leaving you feeling bloated and gassy.
