Heart Attack Rise In India: In one of the recent incidents, the district of Hassan in the state of Karnataka marked the formation of a specified committee. In the process, the deputy commissioner, KS Lathakumari, decided to form a committee that entailed six members.

The composition of the committee remained diverse, as it included several experts from the health industry, including the district health officer, the director of Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, and cardiologists. They were allotted the task of submitting and filing a specified report, underlining the concerns regarding the sudden rise in cardiac arrest cases. The committee was given a week to submit the report.

Heart Attack Grips Karnataka

The decision to form the committee came as a response to an alarming event where an unprecedented rise in sudden heart attacks and cardiac arrest-related deaths was recorded in Hassan. What made it worse was the fact that around 24 people have died in just 40 days, and the alarming numbers have raised concerns among the authorities.

What escalated the concern further was the report that reflected the age category of the victims who succumbed to heart attacks, as it was noted that most deceased were people who fell into the category of either the young age group or the middle-aged group.

The Concerning Findings

The key findings from the data and the report specifically aimed to note down the data of the deaths that were recorded in the district from May to June. It was observed that the report reflected an alarming concern - that 20 out of 24 deaths were due to heart issues, and of the 20, it was observed that 6 deaths were likely caused by blood clots.

The total tally of sudden death claims that 24 cases in total were reported in Hassan, and out of the 20 were confirmed as being linked to heart attacks. Four people did not die due to heart attacks. Their causes of death included kidney problems, road accidents, severe gastrointestinal issues with BP problems, and other health complications.

Out of all the 20 cases of heart attack that were confirmed, it was observed that some had prior heart conditions. As it was noted that 3 individuals had gone through previous heart attacks, out of which 2 had undergone heart stent procedures, one out of the three had undergone angioplasty.

What The Post-Mortem Examinations Revealed

For a further understanding, the Post-mortem examinations were conducted for the victims of heart attacks

Out of all the cases, 7 of the heart attack cases were taken for the post-mortem examinations. It was noted that 6 reports have been received, while 1 is still pending.

The postmortem reports of the 6 patients revealed some shocking insights that alarmed the authorities, as the reports, which were generated, helped discover that 5 out of these 6 people who happened to die due to an unforeseen and abrupt cardiac arrest. At a larger scale, the reason for death in these cases was discovered to be blood clots in the heart. The reports also revealed instances of an abrupt and sudden death in young individuals.
