The Centre will be hosting a four-day long conference on Ayurveda between November 6-9, whcih will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. About 4000 delegates besides Health Ministers of several countries and Indian states will be attending the World Ayurveda Conference
The conference is aimed at to popularising Indian medicine abroad. Admitting his admiration for Ayurveda despite being an ENT specialist, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said Monday that the Centre will fully support all institutions carrying out research in Indian medicine and creating archives of treatments based on established practices in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Siddha and Unanni systems.
Besides, he also announced that An All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) will be coming up at Jasola in Delhi. The institute will be admitting the first batch of post-graduate students during the academic year 2015-16. The institute will also have a 200-bed hospital within six months. The Minister will be approving the course content for academics in the institution. He hopes the institution to develop into an institution comparable to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences an AIIMS for Ayurveda.
