Guwahati’s Health minister Himanta Biswas Sarma has made a foray into unchartered territory. The Health minister has made an appeal to all legislators to give up tobacco containing products. This move is fuelled by the fact that the state plans to pass a legislation banning all forms of tobacco within the state. The minister said that before the legislature is passed it is important that other members of the house set an example by giving up all forms of tobacco. They went a step further to say that all members should urge their family members to quit tobacco all together.
